A customer in Hoopeston, IL called Illiana Backyard Fun to inquire about installing a pool. After a lengthy discussion, we learned that the homeowner wanted the top of the pool wall to be at the same level as his current deck so they could continue installing a deck around the pool and match his current deck height.
True above ground pools aren’t made to be buried as they aren’t able to withstand the ground pressure, it voids all their warranty and the walls will rust and rot away. Therefore, they decided on a Rockwood Sports Pool which has steel walls, bolted together every 2, 4, 6 feet – depending on the size of the pool. The sturdy 52″ steel walls are made to be fully buried to withstand the ground pressure. The hole was dug to accommodate the deck height.
Once the construction of the pool was built and liner installed, the pool was filled with a water tanker prior to back-filling the walls with pea-gravel. The deck crew came in to install a full deck around the pool and then attached to the existing deck. Once the deck was completed. We came back to install a manual auto-cover on top of the composite decking. The manual auto-cover can be opened and closed anytime they want, thus helping the customer to maintain their pool all season long.
Pictures of the completed project was submitted to Menard’s. The UltraDeck line picked this project to be featured on the front page of their UltraDeck catalog. More pictures do appear inside the catalog as well. We were extremely excited and humbled to achieve such recognition for a small town mom and pop business for both the deck and pool crew.
