We are hard at work this week installing a new Fiberglass Swimming Pool. Kristie Cheatum is seen here managing the install of the plumbing lines & Automated Pool Cover. Kristie is a “hands on” kind of girl and a professional installer to say the least!

Summary of Our Technical Installation

As we mentioned last week, we are now selling Fiberglass Swimming Pools by the brand: Imagine Pools. These fiberglass pools are the best in the industry and provide superior quality to any other fiberglass product that you’ll find on today’s marketplace.

Bringing us to this article, we are hard at work this week installing a new Fiberglass Swimming Pool with an Automated Pool Cover. This is a technical installation that requires advanced “know how” to install properly. As you can see from the above image, we have completed the following tasks:

  • Set our fiberglass pool Semi-Inground
  • Installed our Polybox – which will house our pool cover
  • Run our Plumbing Lines (parallel with equal distance between lines)
  • Installed our Concrete Forms (shown as white foam on top of pool edge – more on this later…)
This image shows our semi-inground fiberglass pool shell. Kristie is setting our hanging braces that will support our plumbing lines as they wrap around the swimming pool. Once our concrete deck is poured all of this material will be covered up. The only component you will see is the deck and the swimming pool (right side).

Automated Pool Cover

This sounds a bit advanced, and it definitely is. Setting any swimming pool semi-inground is difficult due to potential settling that can occur once the pool is set. We always back-fill our fiberglass pools with sand or pea gravel to allow for proper drainage of water behind our pool shell. Now that our pool is set, we are able to move on to stage two: preparing for our Automated Pool Cover.

Automated Pool Covers are very handy instruments that allow you to cover your pool with the click of a button. This is extremely beneficial in Fall and Winter months during periods of periodic or zero use. The primary function of these covers is to keep the leaves and other debris out of your swimming pool during periods of non-use.

To prepare our pool deck to conceal our pool cover (when in the open position), we install a Polybox. This black box (seen in the image below) hides our pool cover when it’s rolled up. We install this unit before pouring our concrete deck. This coincides with the time frame that we also install our plumbing and electrical lines (so that everything is concealed below deck).

Not all plumbers are created equal. Some are fast and lack attention to detail. Other's (like Kristie) emphasize precision and accuracy. She believes that the plumbing must be done accurately and understands the benefit it provides to her customers. She wants to build a swimming pool that is long lasting and functions as it's intended to! The best plumbers turn a simple task into an art form and we can see how great a proper plumbing install looks from Kristie's example here!

Kristie is seen here completing all the elements of a plumbing install using her tools and gluing the fittings. She enjoys this type of work because it keeps her sharp and she can ensure first hand that her customers are receiving an excellent product. Kristie works diligently to treat all of her customers like family!

Running Our Plumbing Lines

Not only do we see Kristie installing our Polybox, we see her hard at work running our plumbing lines from start to finish. The key to any successful pool installation is tools, attention to detail & hard work. Kristie is seen here following the proper plumbing guidelines:

  • Even spacing between plumbing lines
  • Setting the lines side by side (using an open trench) rather than stacking the lines and saving cost
  • Measuring and cutting each line in 90 degree angles
  • Applying both Cleaner (primer) & Quick Drying Glue

That being said, Kristie wants to build a swimming pool that is long lasting and functions as it’s intended to! The best plumbers turn a simple task into an art form and we can see how great a proper plumbing install looks from Kristie’s example here!

Who said this job was easy? Kristie is seen here connecting her return lines to the plumbing lines. Return lines are the components that jut through the pool wall and return water to the swimming pool. We seal these lines off with silicone to ensures we create a 100% water proof barrier.
